Themed character parties work because a three to eight year old has usually decided months in advance exactly who is coming. The job of the booking is to deliver that one thing properly rather than a general party with a costume attached.
A themed party package is a performing character plus a programme written for that theme. A princess booking runs storytelling, a dance, a sing along and a crowning moment. A superhero booking runs a training course, a mission and a medal ceremony. The structure is what makes the hour hold together.
Mixed groups are common and worth planning for. Plenty of parties have both princess and superhero guests, and the better suppliers either send two performers or run a shared adventure where both fit. Ask how they handle it before you book.

What age are princess and superhero parties best for?
Three to eight. Three and four year olds respond to the character being there at all. Five to eight year olds engage with the programme, the games and the story. Around nine most children have moved on to formats like a disco or a team challenge party.
Can I have both a princess and a superhero at the same party?
Yes, and it is a common request when siblings or a mixed guest list are involved. Some suppliers send two performers, and others run a single shared adventure that both themes fit into. Say so in your brief so quotes come back for the right format.
Can I request a specific named character?
Tell us the theme and suppliers will tell you what they can offer. Each supplier works from their own original or generic character designs and decides what they provide. Kids Party House does not licence or supply any third party branded character.
How long should a themed party booking run?
One hour suits three to five year olds. Ninety minutes works well for five to eight year olds, because the programme has room for a training sequence, a game block, the ceremony and photographs without feeling rushed.
Do the children get to keep anything?
Many packages include a small themed item such as a tiara, a cape or a medal, and many do not. It is worth asking, because it changes what else you need to organise for the party bags.
What if my child is shy?
Tell the supplier when you book. Experienced themed performers are used to it and will usually approach the birthday child quietly first, at their pace, before turning to the group. It is a normal thing to flag and it makes a real difference.
