A kids party entertainer is the person who takes the party off your hands. Not a performer who does a set and leaves, but a host who arrives early, reads the room, and keeps twenty over excited children moving in roughly the same direction for the length of the booking.
Most Australian entertainers work to a package rather than an hourly rate, and most packages bundle two or three skills. A typical booking might be games and music with face painting folded in, or a short magic set followed by balloon models and a dance off. That bundling is why an entertainer often costs less than booking the same elements separately.

How long should a kids party entertainer stay?
Ninety minutes suits most parties for ages five and up. An hour works for three and four year olds, who tend to run out of concentration before the entertainer runs out of material. Two hours is worth it for a large group, a wide age range or a school hall, where the extra time gets used moving between activities rather than filling gaps.
How many children can one entertainer handle?
Most solo entertainers are comfortable with 10 to 30 children. Beyond that you either split the group into rotations or book a second performer, otherwise the children at the back spend the party waiting. If you are expecting more than 30, say so in your brief so quotes come back sized correctly.
What is the difference between an entertainer and a party host?
An entertainer performs. A host organises. An entertainer runs the games and the show, while a host also manages the schedule, the food timing, the cake moment and the parents. Plenty of suppliers do both. If the running of the day is what you want lifted, look at kids party hosts.
Do entertainers bring their own music and equipment?
Almost always. Expect a portable speaker, a playlist, props and prizes. What they usually need from you is a power point within reach, a shaded or indoor area, and somewhere to put a bag. Confirm this when you book, especially for a park where there may be no power.
Can I book an entertainer and a jumping castle together?

How far ahead do entertainers get booked out?
Four to six weeks is comfortable. Saturday mornings between October and March go first, and the fortnight before Christmas is the tightest run of the year. If your date is inside two weeks, send the brief anyway, because availability shifts constantly.
